Might hope be an invisible yet essential item in our creative toolbox? Is the belief we will improve our painting and drawing skills not built on a foundation of hope (with the bricks being determination, past achievements, goals, plans, skill acquisition, practice)?
Hope requires energy. So don’t waste that energy berating yourself for messing up a drawing, or failing to achieve your vision for a painting. That’s going to happen. Use the energy to figure out one thing you could do differently, then try that and hope for a better outcome.
