Close your eyes and say to yourself: ‘I wonder what my next thought is going to be.’
Then become very alert and wait for the next thought. Be like a cat watching a mouse hole. What thought is going to come out of the mouse hole? Try it now.”
— Eckhart Tolle, quoted in A Buddhist Psychiatrist Explains Why Meditation Isn’t About Relaxing by Gigi Falk
Is it going to be a thought that’s a glimpse of light in the darkness, or darkness overloading the light?
If I add the word “colour”, what’s your next thought?
Bet it wasn’t “black”.
My first thought was not a word. It was a vision of a crystal prism in sunlight … exploding with color!
I’m now seeing Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” album cover 🙂
